Visit with Mom & Dad was AWESOME!
They arrived Tuesday just as I was sitting down to eat my leftover beets and sweet potatoes for lunch. We all sat around chatting for a while until Dad got bored and decided to fix things. So within about 15 minutes of being at my house, Dad had fixed the broken garbage disposal that had been broken since before Christmas. (Turns out, having the right tools was 90% of the solution.)
We went down to Savannah to wander around on Tuesday, walking through a whole bunch of the squares downtown and along Bay street down by the river. We went past the big church, but unfortunately it’s under construction, so we couldn’t go in.
But we did get chocolate and salt water taffy from Savannah Candy Kitchen, so all was not lost. And then we had dinner at the Mellow Mushroom before heading home to play card games and chat until late at night.
Today, Dad looked at the ice maker on our fridge because the ice always smells like farts and nobody wants to drink something that smells like farts. Mom and I ran into town get get a gift for Ethan’s birthday (Happy birthday, Ethan!). And then we all went to Hilton Head Island for lunch at the Atlanta Bread Company before walking out on the beach and wonder at all the sea slugs on the sand.
We have no idea what these things are but they were all over the sand today!
We stopped by Lowe’s on the way home for a new hose for the ice maker in the freezer and then went home so they could get on the road again. They left here between 3 and 4 o’clock, on their way up to northeast Georgia to spend the night. We haven’t heard from them yet, so they’re probably still on the road. It’s about a 5 hour drive, so I’m not surprised.
All in all, it was a short, but fantastic visit! I had a lot of fun showing them around the area where we live. The weather was absolutely perfect, with clear blue skies and temperatures in the mid, to upper 70s and mild humidity. I was delighted to have them in town, even for such a short amount of time.
It was wonderful! And I miss them already!
